Six Little Preludes and Fugues

"For the profit and use of the studious musical Young, and also for the special diversion of those who are already skillful in this study." wrote J S Bach on the title page of "The Well-Tempered Clavier" in 1722.  With this new collection of Preludes and Fugues, June Armstrong has filled a much-needed gap in the intermediate piano literature that will provide a perfect introduction to contrapuntal playing for developing pianists as well as delight those already conversant in this skill.  Each Prelude and Fugue is a little gem, both familiar and surprising.

Benjamin Steinhardt USA

"As with June's other pieces, these works are likely to appeal to adults wanting to access the more serious classical repertoire as well, as, equally, younger players excited to discover new sound worldsEach of these Preludes and Fugues gently offers a fresh spin to an age-old format.  Familiar tropes of highly satisfying harmonic 'sequences' give way to unexpected twists that delight those familiar with the genre, while bringing fresh appeal to players new to contrapuntal writing."
